Little Dragons opened in 2003 in a purpose built single story building to accommodate 64 children across 3 nursery rooms. The nursery is conveniently located on the Bath Road in Reading with the town centre only 1.8 miles away.
We accept children aged from 3 months up until 31st August after their 4th birthday. Children are eligible for a school place in a reception class with effect from the September following their 4th birthday. With effect from 1st May 2019, there is a minimum attendance of 2 days per week.
The nursery in Reading has a secure entry system with a magnetically sealed front door which releases when commanded or in the event of an emergency evacuation. The nursery has a large garden that has been extended over the years and incorporates a specific baby garden in the centre and a nature garden at one end.
Both the 2 to 3 year and the 3 to school age rooms have outdoor free flow areas enabling the children to access the outside as an extension to the nursery rooms.
In 2005 we became a training nursery helping schools and colleges across the Reading area, this is something we are extremely passionate about and continue to do to this day.
If you would like to enquire regarding the current availability of a place for your child please call the nursery on the telephone number below.
Please note that from January 2018 we only offer attendance of full days.

Little Dragons holds many events - these include annual summer and Christmas Fairs, an Easter coffee morning, book sales, visiting pantomime, visiting farm, portrait photographer, visiting mini beast zoo, children’s carol service, 4 year olds’ graduation celebration to infant school, Children In Need, Comic relief, The Big Toddle and fancy dress days as well as celebrating many different cultural festivals, special days and children’s birthdays.
We have regular parent’s evenings where each child’s Key Person discusses their progress with their parent/s.
We also ask parents and grandparents to come and get involved with the nursery, for example: Reading a story to the children in their home language, coming in to help the children during a cooking session, helping in our nature garden etc.
Little Dragons is a training nursery in Reading for NVQ Level 2 and 3 students, we have a student mentor who supports the staff here on apprenticeships and they have regular visits from their college tutors. We have seen in excess of 25 staff qualify at NVQ Level 3 over the years and have been successful in being awarded Chiltern Training Colleges ‘Employers Award’ on two occasions.
I wanted to give some feedback on Leah after I spent some time with her at the parents' evening tonight. We were really pleased when it was confirmed that she would be A's key worker in the Red room and my conversation with her tonight confirmed why.
Leah clearly loves her job and was able to talk extensively about A with passion and enthusiasm. She gave very insightful feedback on her - how she plays with other children, her interests, learning styles, abilities and personality. It was really reassuring and pleasing to hear how much she obviously enjoys A's company - a feeling that absolutely goes both ways!
Leah was able to paint a very vivid picture of their time together, providing many examples of the activities they do together, A's developmental milestones and the next targets for her. This was all backed up with the file which we have borrowed overnight to read more thoroughly.
We are reliant on the feedback provided by the team at Little Dragons and conversations such as this really help to bring us into the time which A spends there. It was particularly pleasing to hear her personality and nuances at nursery being described to be just as we know them at home - I am convinced this is a reflection of how comfortable she feels in the environment of the nursery and in Leah and the team's care.
Please pass on our feedback to Leah - she is a real asset to Little Dragons.
