Settling in
Supporting Your Child Every Step of the Way
Starting nursery, moving between rooms, or preparing for school are all big milestones for children and families. We make every transition as smooth, positive, and reassuring as possible.
We offer a flexible, personalised settling-in period for every child joining our nurseries. You and your child will be invited for a series of short visits, allowing you both to get to know our team, the environment, and daily routines at your own pace. Our practitioners will talk with you about your child’s interests, routines, and any special requirements, so we can provide the best possible support from day one.
Parents are encouraged to stay for initial sessions, helping your child feel safe and confident as they explore their new surroundings. We’ll work together to decide when your child is ready for longer sessions and, eventually, a full day.
Additional sessions are organised prior to your child’s start date.

Transitions between rooms
Our nurseries are organised into age and stage appropriate playrooms:
- Baby Room: Calm, nurturing, and focused on sensory play and individual care.
- Toddler Room: Designed for exploration, language development, and growing independence.
- Preschool Room: Stimulating, creative, and focused on early learning and school readiness.
As your child grows, they’ll move to the next playroom when they’re ready, not just by age, but when they’re developmentally prepared. We plan transitions carefully, with visits to the new playroom, introductions to new practitioners, and plenty of time to adjust.
Practitioners share information about your child’s routines, interests, and progress to ensure continuity of care and learning.
Preparing for school
In preparation for your child to move on to primary school, we continue to focus on building the skills and confidence they’ll need for a smooth transition.
Our preschool room introduces routines and activities similar to those at school, and we talk about what to expect in reception class.
With your consent, we share relevant information with your child’s new school to help them settle in quickly and happily.
Family partnership
We believe that strong relationships with families are key to successful transitions. We keep you informed, listen to your concerns, and celebrate your child’s achievements together.
Our aim is to make every transition a positive, supported experience for your child and your family.
