What we offer : Meals & nutrition
Nutritious meals, freshly prepared
Mealtimes are great opportunities for children to learn, socialise, and develop healthy habits.
All meals are freshly prepared on site by our nursery chefs, following current guidance and dietitian feedback.
We provide a variety of nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day to keep children energised and ready to learn.
- breakfast is served between 7.30am and 8am
- lunch is between 11.15am and 12.15pm
- afternoon high tea from 3pm to 3.30pm
- for those staying later, a light snack is offered at 5.45pm
Once your child is around 6 months old and following Health Visitor advice, where required, they can begin to enjoy food at the nursery.
We'll check with you first to make sure your child is ready, and ask you to sign our nursery menu before they begin nursery meals.
We also encourage children to try new foods at home first, so they feel comfortable and confident at mealtimes.
Our staff model positive behaviour and support those who need a little extra help.
We encourage children to talk about their likes and dislikes and to try different foods and textures.
We believe that relaxed, happy mealtimes help children develop a positive relationship with food and with each other.
Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or a snack, every meal is a chance to learn, share, and grow together.

Seasonal ingredients
Our menus change with the seasons, rotating every two weeks to provide variety and balance, and are developed in line with the latest guidance and feedback from dietitians.
For children over 12 months, we provide a daily serving of cow’s milk. If you’d like more details about our approach to food and nutrition, please see our food and healthy eating policy or speak to your nursery manager.
Dietary needs
Dietary needs
We cater for allergies, intolerances, and cultural preferences. Parents are asked to review and sign the nursery menu before their child starts.
Learning at mealtimes
Mealtimes at our nurseries are about so much more than just eating. They are valuable opportunities for children to develop important life skills, social confidence, and healthy habits in a relaxed, supportive setting.
What children learn at mealtimes
Independence: Children are encouraged to serve themselves, pour drinks, and use cutlery, building fine motor skills and self-confidence.
Social Skills: Sitting together at the table, children learn to take turns, share, use good manners, and enjoy conversations with friends and staff.
Healthy Choices: We talk about different foods, colours, and textures, helping children to try new things and understand the importance of a balanced diet.
Language Development: Mealtimes are a great time for children to talk about their day, describe what they’re eating, and build their vocabulary.
Cultural Awareness: We celebrate a variety of foods and special occasions, introducing children to new tastes and traditions from different cultures.
